Now it is time for their heir to re-start the path. Thulasi Nair's bubbly and childish character suits her performances. Another bloodline to join her sister to chase their fame. She already booked her place in K Ravichandran's debut direction. Definite another performance to look through as her journey begins here.

THE DIRECTOR
There is no need for any introduction for the great MANI RATNAM. Being one of the best in the industry, he is undoubted for his creation. The director proofs that he is capable to pull on new talent despite using big names to act under his name. Kadal marks his efforts. Portraying Action King Arjun to a new avatar and adding on Arvind Swamy surely deserves him a big applause for his brave creativity. Mani Ratnam once again shows his effort by casting the two kids who plays the young Thomas in different ages. Story were outstanding.Unfortunately, being an experience and talented director, Mani Ratnam misses out some continuity that were clearly seen in the beginning and the ending scene.

Director Rating : 4 / 5

CINEMATOGRAPHY
Mani Ratnam has reunites with one of the best cinematographer - RAJIV MENON. Rajiv Menon works is the highlight of the movie. His camerawork speaks the whole story. Each and every scene were beautifully taken and narrates to the audience. The transformation of Thomas on the edge of boat definitely a sample of the great works. Rajiv Menon definitely brings the audiences to the journey of Kadal.

Cinematography : 5 / 5

MUSIC
No words to describe the 2009 Oscar winner A R RAHMAN's music in Kadal. His movie definitely stunning and trend-setting. A R Rahman pours his best to contribute his part in Mani Ratnam's ideology. Songs such as Nenjukulle, Moongil Thootam, Elay Keechan, Adiyee, and Magudi revives audience's heart. Definitely a composition that one would never simple miss out.

KADAL - Absolute brilliant and stunning effort. Mani Ratnam's brilliancy proof why he is one of the best in the industry. Gautham Karthik and Thulasi Nair nailed tehir performance in their debut role. Arjun outstanding performances and a remarkable return of Arvind Swamy steals the show. Rajiv Menon and A R Rahman undisputed contribution definitely hikes the movie. Though the movie received mixture reviews, all I can say is the combination of Mani Ratnam, A R Rahman, Rajiv Menon, Arjun, Arvind Swamy, and the debutant of both Gautham Karthik and Thulasi Nair definitely one of the best ever.

DAVID

Director : Bejoy Nambiar
Music : Anirudh, Remo Fernandes, Modern Mafia, Prashant Pillai, Bramfatura, Maatibaani
Cinematography : R Rathnavelu, P S Vinod
Editing : Sheekar Prasad

SYNOPSIS
As seen in the caption of the movie, this story involves two different lives of two different characters whose having the same name, David. The story canned in two different timeline. David (Vikram), a drunkard fisherman living in Goa, 2010 and a guitarist David (Jiiva) living in Mumbai, 1999. David's (Vikram) story shows his carefree life and his desire to get the woman of his love - a deaf and mute girl, Roma (Isha Sharvani) whom soon-to-be the bride of his close friend. Meanwhile David (Jiiva) an aspiring guitarist trying his luck to work with a well known musician so that he can get away from his father, Father Noel (Nasser) who has a philanthropist attitude. Later on, a political issue will occur in Mumbai which lead to a tragic incident where Father Noel will get beaten up for being accused of converting everyone to Christianity. This causes David (Jiiva) to avenge for his father. The story revolves the decision that been taken of this two Davids that could change their life forever.

THE CAST
VIKRAM - Earlier this script enrolls Vikram for another David character which is held to Neil Nitin Mukesh in the Hindi version. But Vikram who is well known for accepting different roles offered himself to take upon the fisherman's avatar. Vikram plays drunkard fisherman David who has a carefree live. He later falls in love to a mute, deaf and lovely Roma who is going to be the bride of his best friend. Vikram dons the roles brilliantly. No doubt that he could pull it of better than anyone else. His physical and body language suits up his character well.

JIIVA - Jiiva plays an aspiring young guitarist as the other David. Jiiva plays a youth who is trying his chance to work under a well-known musician so that he could escapes from his father who is well known for his philanthropist attitude. A political issue which occur has lead him to avenge against a politic leader. Being notice for his back to back performances, this is another highlight for Jiiva's career. Jiiva's role as guitarist David definitely marks up the movie. He performances and the flow of his side of the story will keep viewer to be tempted.

Cast Rating :  4.5 / 5

THE DIRECTOR
BEJOY NAMBIAR who has assist Mani Ratnam in Raavanan and Raavan has convert himself as a director. His debut movie, Shaitan has received positive reviews and applause which won him awards for his achievements. This young director has script on a new idea where he transfers into bilingual script. This is definitely a new concept for featuring two different lives under the same name. The Tamil version of David casts two main leads meanwhile the Hindi version captures three main leads. Unfortunately, since this script is more highlighted for Hindi audience, Vikram who cast in both version, has his path in Tamil in out of place dubbing version. As his story were dubbed in Tamil, it has made Vikram's side of the story less enjoyable. Besides that, the director has missed out a timeline in Vikram side of story. There will be a part where Vikram's friend will sing 'Cute Pondatti' song from Osthi to his girlfriend. Well, Vikram side of story has been set in the year of 2010 and Osthi songs were only composed in 2011. Bejoy Nambiar narrates the two story perfectly without composing confusions for the viewer. Meanwhile, he had keep Jiiva's side of story a tempting one. Besides that, there will be a scene in Jiiva's side where Nasser will have a shave. That particular scene will make the audience to be heart tickled and it is perfectly taken. Since it is only features two Davids, young director Bejoy Nambiar has plotted a script changed in this Tamil version at the end of the story to make the Tamil audiences to feel gifted.

Director Rating : 3 / 5

CINEMATOGRAPHY
R RATHNAVELU and P S VINOD are in charge of the camera. R Rathnavelu who has work in mega blockbuster movies such as Vaaranam Aayiram and Enthiran definitely needs no more introduction for his capability meanwhile P S Vinod has worked in several Hindi, Tamil n Telugu projects who also has been roped for Ajith-Vishnuvarthan untitled project. R Rathnavelu been roped to cinematograph Vikram's portion meanwhile P S Vinod been in charge of Jiiva's portion. Both of the camerawork totally undisputed. They have delivered the story through their camera perfectly. Since Vikram's story acquires a beach side environment, his portion were beautifully captured. While P S Vinod strongly captures the enthusiasm in Jiiva's role.

Cinematography Rating : 4.5 / 5

MUSIC
David has sign in six music directors to composed their own song which seems a new effort been charge of by director Bejoy Nambiar. Bejoy Nambiar himself earlier has composed two songs but he did not find it suitable and would rather concentrates in his directing. Therefore he has bring in six talented music director to accompany him in his venture. Each songs has been favorites but Anirudh's Kanave Kanave is a trend-setting even before the movie is out. A remarkable music by the young music director which has hiked up the expectation for the film. Unfortunately the song has been trimmed and been used as a background song and again being played during the credits. This definitely blows away the expectation and interest for the viewers who look forward to this song.

Music Rating : 3 / 5

DAVID - A new idea, brilliant concept. Two different stories brilliantly narrated by director Bejoy Nambiar without confusing the viewers. Vikram and Jiiva leads their role remarkably. Powerful message on politics delivered which opens the mind of viewers. Unfortunately the out of place dubbing in Vikram's story and Kanave Kanave song trimmed makes the movie less enjoyable meanwhile Jiiva's portion will keep the audiences tempted. Overall an outstanding effort and kudos to Bejoy Nambiar and his team for bringing such pleasure.

THE CAST
VISHAL - The tall, dark, and handsome hero returns to screen after Vedi. He portrays the role of the forest trekker who is in love with a girl name Rupa. Later on, he converts his characteristic as a confuse man to a surrounding that mistaken him for another guy who shares the same look and name. A work well done by Vishal to convey his acting in this genre. In addition, Vishal finally get his opportunity to be the love interest to his favorite heroine, Trisha whom suppose to join on his earlier ventures.

TRISHA - After missing the opportunity to join hand with Vishal who keen to work with her in movies such as Sathyam, Thoranai, Theerathu Vilaaiyathu Pillai and Vedi, Trisha gives the nod to shake legs and becomes Vishal love interest in this flick. Trisha dons an important character in this film and very much delighted to add this into her career. Plays the equally important character as the main lead and delivers a wonderful performances.

SUNAINA - Plays the character of Rupa, who is on love with Sakthi and later break of with him as he could not meet the expectations a girl could dream of. Her beauty blends into her role as she beautifully portrays her character well. Unfortunately the scripts more concentrated to Trisha and fades off her character and role which has make character appears as cameo rather than dominating the storyline. Rising star as her could have given importance as she proven her dedication towards her career.

Cast Rating : 3.5 / 5

THE DIRECTOR
THIRU reunites once again with Vishal. This duo joined hands in Thiru's previous flick - Thirathu Villaiyathu Pillai. This time he brings in a thriller venture. Got to appreciates he effort to bring in a different storyline but things may not be in his way. His script fades off Sunaina's role in the movie where he concentrated more on Trisha's role. Having a great cast under his kitty, he could have given strong line for each characters. Actors like Manoj Bajpai who is one of the great actor in Bollywood been roped in this movie but given a role that anyone else can role on. It is appreciated for Thiru to pen down a new idea but his narration throughout the movie did not meet the expectation especially for those who are implant to this kind of genre to be flattered with. There a some lacking points in the script. Feels that it could be been better to make this thriller more flavor-able.

Director Rating : 2.5 / 5

CINEMATOGRAPHY
RICHARD M NATHAN captures the story perfectly. His camerawork shows the beauty of Bangkok and scenes that were shot in Malaysia. His interesting shot blend in with the narration and flows with the storyline.

Cinematography Rating : 3.5 /5

MUSIC
YUVAN SHANKAR RAJA is no stranger to Tamil cinema especially for youths. He is capable of bringing in trend setting music. Azhago Azhago song definitely mesmerizes the heart of the viewers. Unfortunately this time his music is not the speak of this film. Yuvan has been combined with Dharan Kumar, a rising music director with previously worked with Simbhu in Poda Podi. Dharan has been in charge to push in the background score for Yuvan. The music did not meet the expectation that Yuvan fans would have admired. Probably the music will be trending if one of this duo fully in charge.

Music Rating :  3 / 5

SAMAR - A bid applause to director Thiru for bringing different concept in Indian cinema. Unfortunately the storyline did not meet the expectations to the viewers especially for those who are in track of this kind of genre. Being dedicated, Sunaina's role could have been sharpened. Cinematography perfectly captured which flows the narration of the film. Melodious Azhago Azhago song flattering but music have not been the highlight of the film. A delightful effort which could have been better.

Movie Rating : 2.5 / 5
