SYNOPSIS
The story begins in the age of 1939 during the pre-independence in India. Raasa (Adharvaa), a carefree villager who lives in a village which overwhelm with happiness. As the story evolves, love story blossoms between Raasa and Angamma (Vedhika).
One day, Raasa went to neighborhood village to find a job as Angamma's mom did not approve Raasa because of his irresponsible and jobless characteristic. Raasa came across a guy called Kangani. Raasa brought Kangani to his village and set a meeting for Kangani with the villagers. Kangani who in the search for villagers to work in a tea plantation speaks out his reason to visit Raasa's village. He promises them a job with wealthy pay along with pleasure accommodation and foods. Along the villagers, Raasa signs up a contract with Kangani in term of agreement to work in the tea plantation.
It took them nearly 1 1/2 months to reach the tea plantation from their village. Unfortunately, things are not as what Kangani had promised them. The workers were ruled by Kangani and his henchmen under the authority of British ruler. Raasa then met Maragatham (Dhansika), a worker who lives with her daughter after getting abandoned by her husband. Raasa and his fellow villagers were torched by Kangani. Without no escaping route, Raasa and other workers has to obey and suffer pain during their time in the plantation. Meanwhile, Angamma find herself pregnant of Raasa's child. She had been chased out from the house by her mother and been brought in by Raasa's grandmother who agreed to take care of her until Raasa returns to the village.
After quite some times, their contract comes to end. The workers gathered to received their payment. It is later came to a shock where Kangani and his fellow henchmen taking debts and cutting off their wages for the accommodation, food, medical provided. Raasa was forced to continue his work with them until his debt is settled meanwhile Maragatham been forced to settle her husband's debt in order to leave the place. Without any choice, the workers had to stay put and continue their struggle in the plantation. Raasa decided to run away and escape to his village. Unfortunately his escape mission did not came to any possibilities as he was captured by Kangani's men during their watch out. As a result, Raasa's leg bone been cut off without any mercy as a warning to him and other workers who tries to escape from the place.
One day, a doctor and his wife were brought to the plantation to treat the sick workers. Instead of treating them, they converts the workers to Christianity and left. As year passed, Maragatham later falls sick and refuses to take any treatment as they will charge her with high debt which will make her to stay put longer.
Unfortunately Maragatham could not stay strong and died leaving her daughter to Raasa. As Raasa's time at the plantation comes to an end, he decided to take his payment and left the plantation to return to his village. Things turned from bad to worst as Raasa been told that he will be responsible for Maragatham and her husband's debt since his taking care of their daughter which makes him to work for another nine years.

Raasa who was depressed with the news, shouting out for justice on top of stone mountain. He soon realized a new group of villagers being brought in to work at the tea plantation as how he was brought in. Angamma and her son were one of the followers in the group, runs over to see Raasa. Raasa who could not be happy by meeting them, cries out loud saying they had walked into the hell.

ADHARVAA - A brilliant performances by the son of the late actor- Murali. After his second movie, he been roped into Bala's new venture. Working with Bala, it is understand patience and hard work are required as the National Award director definitely accepting vulnerable results. Adharvaa performance totally a brace well paid off. He definitely state his name next to Vikram, Surya, Arya, and Vishal who are well recognized upon their performance in Bala's film.
VEDHIKA - A young pretty actress who have not mark her name due to her previous movies has been a destiny for her to get a life time opportunity into Bala's projects. A huge transformation been spelled into her appearance. Her first look poster definitely a big shock to the people who admires her. Her new avatar in Paradesi definitely will opens a new path in her career. A magnifying performance speaks the brilliance of her character.
DHANSIKA - Well known for her performance in Peranmai . Paradesi definitely will be a speak of her career in lifetime due to her brace performance. She shares the equal part as her co-casts in the film and plays an important role that flows the narration. A well played performance that will stay in audience mind.

The young music director G V PRAKASH KUMAR definitely another speak for the success of the film. All his composition were stunning and powerful. His music with the combination of lyricist Vairamuthu's words marks the brilliancy for each scenes that requires this duo combination.

PARADESI - Film making at its best! A true incident evolves the life of enslaved tea plantation workers during 1939. A remarkable performance by Adharvaa. Vedhika and Dhansika both plays their role equally. Vedhika dominates the first half of the film meanwhile Dhansika leads the second half. Excellent cinematography definitely will blow the mind away. Overall a painful and depressing Bala film which not for everyone depends on each ideology and thinking.
