More over, the relationship between Bomman and Alli were brilliantly penned down as well. As the captain of the ship, Prabu Solomon totally dons his role and puts all the hard work to bring out this movie. Unfortunately, the VFX works are noticeable. The climax surely brings down emotion.

Director Rating : 4 / 5

Reema Kagti, a brave effort to script down this story and bringing in the big names in the industry to work in this movie. Being the assistant to Farhan Akthar and few bring names definitely prove she had learn from the best. Though its just her second movie, she dons her story brilliantly. It is not an easy to present a mystery script but the combination of Reema Kagti and Zoya Akhtar pens down the story makes it worthy. Though I do not know the suspense revealed in the movie are acceptable or ridiculous for this kind of genre, but that is up to the viewers to decide.

PODA PODI

Cast : Silambarasan, Varalaxmi Sarath Kumar, VTV Ganesh
Director : Vignesh Sivan
Music : Dharan Kumar
Cinematography : Duncan Telford
Editing : Anthony

SYNOPSIS
This movie sets in London. Arjun (Simbhu) meets Nisha (Varalaxmi SarathKumar) in a pub. Living in a modern life, Nisha falls for Arjun for his wealth meanwhile Arjun falls for Nisha to past his time. After hanging out together, Nisha proposed her love to Arjun and he agreed. Nisha is an aspiring salsa dancer who committed to her dance and a very socialize person which totally opposite with Arjun. Despite having misunderstanding in their relationship, they had break-up but gets back together since they misses each other during the break-up. Soon, they got married.

Yet, after their married, Nisha still committed to her dance meanwhile Arjun tried to distract her from her commitment and focused on family life instead. While failing his desire to stop Nisha from dancing, Arjun get advice from his uncle to make her pregnant in order to make her to stay away from dancing. Later, Nisha got pregnant and gave birth. The birth of the baby bring happiness to Arjun's life. One day, while having a family dinner, Arjun's uncle mistakenly mentioned that he's advice to Arjun was the reason Nisha got pregnant. Knowing Arjun's cheap plan, Nisha walks out. While trying to console her, Arjun involved in a fight which tragically causes unwanted accident happened to their child. The accident ended their child life.

Arjun and Nisha stayed separated since the incident. After some times, Arjun speaks to Nisha's aunt to make her come back. Nisha came back to Arjun with condition that she will pursue her dance. In order to console her, Arjun agrees. During the dance lesson, Nisha's dance partner, Mojo gets intimately close with Nisha. Arjun later beats Mojo leaving Nisha without a dance partner for the competition. Without having any option, Nisha gets Arjun to be her dance partner. Being a typical Tamilan, Arjun only knew Kuthhu Dance. Therefore, Nisha had to train him from the basic. After going through some rough time, Arjun managed to learn salsa dance. During the first round of the competition, Arjun's lack of experience and inappropriate dance move has fail to impressed the judges. Fortunately, Nisha was given second chances with terms that she finds a different partner. Arjun pledges Nisha to make him her partner and marks her that they would win the competition. Having his own idea in mind, Arjun and Nisha performs a Kutthu Dance which impresses the judges and the audiences.

THE CAST
Silambarasan (Simbhu) - Being a multi-talented artist, he portrays Arjun's characteristic perfectly. His opening 'Love Pannulama Venamma' gets appreciative for the song, lyric, music and choreography. But he needs to get more into physical effort in order to make him fit.  Seriously whatever he's having there is not how six pack look like. People can count dude. Back to his performance, after the massive characters in VinnaiThandiVaruvayaa and Vaanam, this story is basically highlighted for Simbhu. Besides showing off himself, Arjun is another ordinary performance by Simbhu. Of course, he did a fabulous job in dancing which marks up his performance.

Varalaxmi SarathKumar - Being born to a talented actor, acting makes her comfortable to blend in the industry. In a debut role, she has been given a challenging role but however, since the script dominating more on Simbhu, her roles silently deeps down. Moreover, there is more for her to adapt to pursue her acting.

VTV Ganesh - Plays Arjun's uncle in this movie. Being in a comedic role, nothing much to say about his character. After their combination in VinnaiTaandhiVaruvayaa, Simbhu and Ganesh combination continues their venture together in Vaanam, Osthi, Poda Podi, later on together again in Vaalu and Vettai Mannan. Seriously, their combination need to break apart. They need to move separate way to improve their performance and give a relief to the audience to see both of them in different performances.

Cast Rating : 2.5 / 5

THE DIRECTOR
Coming to the story - this story is all about the uncommitted relationship between the both characters. She falls for him because of his wealth and he falls for her just to pass his time. All for her was her commitments in dance and her characteristic which is totally opposite him. After their marriage, the love story are still in the same flow.  I was expecting some turnaround in the story after the child is born but the only thing happened is Simbhu went to HongKong Disneyland (by the way, this is the first Tamil movie to be shot there) to dance. After the child's death yet I thought they are going to be serious in their relationship but still flies in the same flow. The best part, after their separation, he convince her to get back in order for him to get more babies. Finally, the salsa dance turned into Simbhu style - the kutthu dance. In addition, Simbhu pens the lyrics by combining the famous lyrics from his previous movies.

Vignesh Sivan developed his short film to make his debut in the industry.  There is much to be learn by Vignesh Sivan in  order to improve himself. He dominates the story by focusing on one man - Simbhu. The story did not have the element to make the story strong. It moves in the same flow without any changes. As part of that, he pens the lyrics and contribute his voice for the film which deserves him applause.

Director Rating : 2.5 / 5

CINEMATOGRAPHY
Making his debut in Tamil cinema, Duncan Telford being in-charge for the camera. Well, it can't be credited as the best cinematography work but it is above average. He deserve applause for his shots in the song sequences especially in HongKong's Disneyland, the pub, and the dance competition. Its gives the energy to feel the atmosphere. This movie being canned for two years because of location arrangement and especially because of Simbhu's call sheet where he went to sign more movies at a time including the love anthem delays the schedule of the movie and effects the energy of the cinematography mood.

Cinematography Rating : 3 / 5

MUSIC
A big applause and credits to the music. Dharan's music is the highlight for this film. He composed all the songs superbly. A definite treat for the youths. This guy definitely going to join the list of great music director one day. He ability proves he can work with big names and contribute all his hard work to make his music special. Being an upcoming artist, he totally highlight this movie with his music.

Music Rating : 4 / 5

PODA PODI - basically its about Simbhu showing off himself from the beginning till the end of the movie. Simple storyline without strong element. High credits to Dharan's amazing tune.Seriously, Simbhu and VTV Ganesh combination really needs to break apart. Overall, a treat for Simbhu fans and Simbhu himself.

Movie Rating : 2.5 / 5

THE CAST
Vijay - This is definitely a trademark IlayaThalapathi movie. After unimpressive flop movies and back to back remake success, Thupakki definitely a royal treat for Vijay fans. In this movie, Vijay portrays an army officer. With his physics and fit body, he really suits the character perfectly. Not to forget he's stylish look in this movie which are undeniable. Moreover, Vijay's accent on speaking Hindi makes his character as Mumbai Tamilan looks real and impressive. Vijay is well-known for his outstanding dance which brings him to perform pleasant dance steps to entertain to audiences. In addition, he is back as a playback singer to marked up his performance.

Kajal Agarwal - She plays Nisha, Captain Jagdish's love interest in this movie. Her glamour and cuteness attached to the joyful and romantic character beautifully.

Sathyan - Captain Jagdish's friend who plays an important roles in this movie. This time Sathyan not been deliver much to comedy ascent, instead been offer to play supporting role who help his friend to track down the sleeper cells' network.

Vidyut Jamwal - After his introduction to Tamil cinema in Billa II, he has been assigned to face one-on-one with Vijay. A stylo, macho and handsome villain matches his role as the leader of the sleeper cells network. Based on his performance in his debut movie, Force (Hindi remakes of Khaaka Khaaka) there is more to come from this talented actor.

Cast Rating : 4.5 / 5

THE DIRECTOR
A R Murugadoss well known for his out of the box thinking to come out with different and brilliant story. After huge back to back success from Ramana, Ghajini (both Tamil and Hindi) and 7am Arivu, he came out a brilliant script to work first time with Vijay in a action pack fully loaded entertainer. Being one of the greatest director in the industry, he totally changes Vijay from the head till toe in order to make the actor totally rocking throughout the movie. In addition, the much speak-able intelligent master planning to hunt down the twelve sleeper cells and the scenes where a sniffer dog been used to track down the hiding places totally deserving the director a great salute.

Director Rating : 4.5 / 5

CINEMATOGRAPHY
Santosh Sivan, a pride of Indian cinematography handles the camera in this movie. He has been assigned to handle the latest camera, Arri Alexa which has been used in James Bond's Skyfall. With his ability, without a doubt he has perfectly captured the movie to deliver to the audiences. The picturization in each songs beautifully canned and perfectly delivered.

Cinematography Rating : 4 / 5

MUSIC
Songs like Google Google, Antarctica, Kutti Puli Kootam n Alaikaa Laika surely captures the audiences  heart. Highly scored songs definitely entertaining but Harris Jayaraj blew it big time with the soundtracks. It is very noticeable he copy, edit, and paste the music. This definitely scrolled down this highly remarkable movie.

Music Rating : 2.5 / 5

THUPAKKI - Finally Vijay sees the light!!! A fully loaded entertainer by A R Murugadoss. A remarkable Vijay's performances. A well balanced storyline and Santosh Sivan's camerawork speaks the flow of the film. Superb song but this time Harris Jayaraj totally screwed it - its very obvious he recycle the musics. Come on dude, you can do better than this. Vidyut Jamwal dons a stylish villain which suits him well. There is more to come from this talented performer. Kudos to Vijay outstanding effort.

Movie Rating : 3.5 / 5
