THE DIRECTOR
After the major success of Mynaa, Prabu Solomon returns with an aspiring script on elephants. After creating fame on Mynaa, he delivers a strong script which totally stunning. A brilliant effort once again to direct debutantes in this high anticipated movie. The bond between a mahout and his elephant were brilliantly delivered. More over, the relationship between Bomman and Alli were brilliantly penned down as well. As the captain of the ship, Prabu Solomon totally dons his role and puts all the hard work to bring out this movie. Unfortunately, the VFX works are noticeable. It clearly differentiates which scene was role using real elephant and which sequence involves VFX. Although some scene were caught draggy, his comedy dialogues and beautiful narration switches audience's attraction. The climax surely brings down emotion.

Director Rating : 4 / 5

Hatz off to Aamir Khan's magnificent performance delivered which sets example to incoming new actors. In addition, Aamir Khan who never experience swimming, took an initiative to undergo a swimming lesson in order to prepare himself for the character.

Kareena Kapoor - Plays a sex worker, Rosie who is the major highlight of this movie. Her involvement in the case helps to dig out the truth behind the mysterious incident. Kareena Kapoor's experiences leads her to  enroll the characteristic perfectly. I am not a fan of Kareena but got to admit she deliver a beautiful performances.

Rani Muhkerji - Plays Roshni, wife of Inspector Surjan Singh Sekhrawat. Having trouble settling in life after lost their own child. Rani Muhkerji's equal performance with Aamir Khan narrates the relationship between both character perfectly.

THE DIRECTOR
Reema Kagti, a brave effort to script down this story and bringing in the big names in the industry to work in this movie. Being the assistant to Farhan Akthar and few bring names definitely prove she had learn from the best. Though its just her second movie, she dons her story brilliantly. It is not an easy to present a mystery script but the combination of Reema Kagti and Zoya Akhtar pens down the story makes it worthy. Though I do not know the suspense revealed in the movie are acceptable or ridiculous for this kind of genre, but that is up to the viewers to decide.

PODA PODI

Cast : Silambarasan, Varalaxmi Sarath Kumar, VTV Ganesh
Director : Vignesh Sivan
Music : Dharan Kumar
Cinematography : Duncan Telford
Editing : Anthony

SYNOPSIS
This movie sets in London. Arjun (Simbhu) meets Nisha (Varalaxmi SarathKumar) in a pub. Living in a modern life, Nisha falls for Arjun for his wealth meanwhile Arjun falls for Nisha to past his time. After hanging out together, Nisha proposed her love to Arjun and he agreed. Nisha is an aspiring salsa dancer who committed to her dance and a very socialize person which totally opposite with Arjun. Despite having misunderstanding in their relationship, they had break-up but gets back together since they misses each other during the break-up. Soon, they got married.

Yet, after their married, Nisha still committed to her dance meanwhile Arjun tried to distract her from her commitment and focused on family life instead. While failing his desire to stop Nisha from dancing, Arjun get advice from his uncle to make her pregnant in order to make her to stay away from dancing. Later, Nisha got pregnant and gave birth. The birth of the baby bring happiness to Arjun's life. One day, while having a family dinner, Arjun's uncle mistakenly mentioned that he's advice to Arjun was the reason Nisha got pregnant. Knowing Arjun's cheap plan, Nisha walks out. While trying to console her, Arjun involved in a fight which tragically causes unwanted accident happened to their child. The accident ended their child life.

Arjun and Nisha stayed separated since the incident. After some times, Arjun speaks to Nisha's aunt to make her come back. Nisha came back to Arjun with condition that she will pursue her dance. In order to console her, Arjun agrees. During the dance lesson, Nisha's dance partner, Mojo gets intimately close with Nisha. Arjun later beats Mojo leaving Nisha without a dance partner for the competition. Without having any option, Nisha gets Arjun to be her dance partner. Being a typical Tamilan, Arjun only knew Kuthhu Dance. Therefore, Nisha had to train him from the basic. After going through some rough time, Arjun managed to learn salsa dance. During the first round of the competition, Arjun's lack of experience and inappropriate dance move has fail to impressed the judges. Fortunately, Nisha was given second chances with terms that she finds a different partner. Arjun pledges Nisha to make him her partner and marks her that they would win the competition. Having his own idea in mind, Arjun and Nisha performs a Kutthu Dance which impresses the judges and the audiences.

THE CAST
Silambarasan (Simbhu) - Being a multi-talented artist, he portrays Arjun's characteristic perfectly. His opening 'Love Pannulama Venamma' gets appreciative for the song, lyric, music and choreography. But he needs to get more into physical effort in order to make him fit.  Seriously whatever he's having there is not how six pack look like. People can count dude. Back to his performance, after the massive characters in VinnaiThandiVaruvayaa and Vaanam, this story is basically highlighted for Simbhu. Besides showing off himself, Arjun is another ordinary performance by Simbhu. Of course, he did a fabulous job in dancing which marks up his performance.

Varalaxmi SarathKumar - Being born to a talented actor, acting makes her comfortable to blend in the industry. In a debut role, she has been given a challenging role but however, since the script dominating more on Simbhu, her roles silently deeps down. Moreover, there is more for her to adapt to pursue her acting.

VTV Ganesh - Plays Arjun's uncle in this movie. Being in a comedic role, nothing much to say about his character. After their combination in VinnaiTaandhiVaruvayaa, Simbhu and Ganesh combination continues their venture together in Vaanam, Osthi, Poda Podi, later on together again in Vaalu and Vettai Mannan. Seriously, their combination need to break apart. They need to move separate way to improve their performance and give a relief to the audience to see both of them in different performances.

Cast Rating : 2.5 / 5

THE DIRECTOR
Coming to the story - this story is all about the uncommitted relationship between the both characters. She falls for him because of his wealth and he falls for her just to pass his time. All for her was her commitments in dance and her characteristic which is totally opposite him. After their marriage, the love story are still in the same flow.  I was expecting some turnaround in the story after the child is born but the only thing happened is Simbhu went to HongKong Disneyland (by the way, this is the first Tamil movie to be shot there) to dance. After the child's death yet I thought they are going to be serious in their relationship but still flies in the same flow. The best part, after their separation, he convince her to get back in order for him to get more babies. Finally, the salsa dance turned into Simbhu style - the kutthu dance. In addition, Simbhu pens the lyrics by combining the famous lyrics from his previous movies.

Vignesh Sivan developed his short film to make his debut in the industry.  There is much to be learn by Vignesh Sivan in  order to improve himself. He dominates the story by focusing on one man - Simbhu. The story did not have the element to make the story strong. It moves in the same flow without any changes. As part of that, he pens the lyrics and contribute his voice for the film which deserves him applause.

Director Rating : 2.5 / 5

CINEMATOGRAPHY
Making his debut in Tamil cinema, Duncan Telford being in-charge for the camera. Well, it can't be credited as the best cinematography work but it is above average. He deserve applause for his shots in the song sequences especially in HongKong's Disneyland, the pub, and the dance competition. Its gives the energy to feel the atmosphere. This movie being canned for two years because of location arrangement and especially because of Simbhu's call sheet where he went to sign more movies at a time including the love anthem delays the schedule of the movie and effects the energy of the cinematography mood.

Cinematography Rating : 3 / 5

MUSIC
A big applause and credits to the music. Dharan's music is the highlight for this film. He composed all the songs superbly. A definite treat for the youths. This guy definitely going to join the list of great music director one day. He ability proves he can work with big names and contribute all his hard work to make his music special. Being an upcoming artist, he totally highlight this movie with his music.

Music Rating : 4 / 5

PODA PODI - basically its about Simbhu showing off himself from the beginning till the end of the movie. Simple storyline without strong element. High credits to Dharan's amazing tune.Seriously, Simbhu and VTV Ganesh combination really needs to break apart. Overall, a treat for Simbhu fans and Simbhu himself.

Movie Rating : 2.5 / 5

This incident directs the storyline to bomb blast activities which known as sleeper cells and how Captain Jagdish tracks down the network with his intelligent mastermind planning.

THE CAST
Vijay - This is definitely a trademark IlayaThalapathi movie. After unimpressive flop movies and back to back remake success, Thupakki definitely a royal treat for Vijay fans. In this movie, Vijay portrays an army officer. With his physics and fit body, he really suits the character perfectly. Not to forget he's stylish look in this movie which are undeniable. Moreover, Vijay's accent on speaking Hindi makes his character as Mumbai Tamilan looks real and impressive. Vijay is well-known for his outstanding dance which brings him to perform pleasant dance steps to entertain to audiences. In addition, he is back as a playback singer to marked up his performance.

Kajal Agarwal - She plays Nisha, Captain Jagdish's love interest in this movie. Her glamour and cuteness attached to the joyful and romantic character beautifully.

Jayaram - Plays the role of Ravichandran, Captain Jagdish's higher superior officer. Being an entertainer himself, there is no doubt Jayaram brings the comedy role hilariously. His sudden comedy entertains the audience and brings the story interestingly

Sathyan - Captain Jagdish's friend who plays an important roles in this movie. This time Sathyan not been deliver much to comedy ascent, instead been offer to play supporting role who help his friend to track down the sleeper cells' network.

Vidyut Jamwal - After his introduction to Tamil cinema in Billa II, he has been assigned to face one-on-one with Vijay. A stylo, macho and handsome villain matches his role as the leader of the sleeper cells network. Based on his performance in his debut movie, Force (Hindi remakes of Khaaka Khaaka) there is more to come from this talented actor.

Cast Rating : 4.5 / 5

THE DIRECTOR
A R Murugadoss well known for his out of the box thinking to come out with different and brilliant story. After huge back to back success from Ramana, Ghajini (both Tamil and Hindi) and 7am Arivu, he came out a brilliant script to work first time with Vijay in a action pack fully loaded entertainer. Being one of the greatest director in the industry, he totally changes Vijay from the head till toe in order to make the actor totally rocking throughout the movie. In addition, the much speak-able intelligent master planning to hunt down the twelve sleeper cells and the scenes where a sniffer dog been used to track down the hiding places totally deserving the director a great salute.

Director Rating : 4.5 / 5

CINEMATOGRAPHY
Santosh Sivan, a pride of Indian cinematography handles the camera in this movie. He has been assigned to handle the latest camera, Arri Alexa which has been used in James Bond's Skyfall. With his ability, without a doubt he has perfectly captured the movie to deliver to the audiences. The picturization in each songs beautifully canned and perfectly delivered.

Cinematography Rating : 4 / 5

MUSIC
Songs like Google Google, Antarctica, Kutti Puli Kootam n Alaikaa Laika surely captures the audiences  heart. Highly scored songs definitely entertaining but Harris Jayaraj blew it big time with the soundtracks. It is very noticeable he copy, edit, and paste the music. This definitely scrolled down this highly remarkable movie.

Music Rating : 2.5 / 5

THUPAKKI - Finally Vijay sees the light!!! A fully loaded entertainer by A R Murugadoss. A remarkable Vijay's performances. A well balanced storyline and Santosh Sivan's camerawork speaks the flow of the film. Superb song but this time Harris Jayaraj totally screwed it - its very obvious he recycle the musics. Come on dude, you can do better than this. Vidyut Jamwal dons a stylish villain which suits him well. There is more to come from this talented performer. Kudos to Vijay outstanding effort.

Movie Rating : 3.5 / 5

THANDAVAM

Cast : Vikram, Anushka, Amy Jackson, Jagapathi Babu, Nasser
Director :  A L Vijay
Music :  G V Prakash Kumar
Cinematography : Nirav Shah
Art Direction : Nagu
Editing :  Anthony

SYNOPSIS
Kenny (Vikram)  is a blind pianist who living with an ability called echolocation (the use of sound by people to locate objects by detecting the echo of sound pulses to measure the distances) . He has his own mission to seek revenge of a series bomb blast with help from Geetha (Lakshmi Rai). The flashback notes he was a higher position RAW officer, SivaKumar. Together with his best friend, Sarath (Jagapathi Babu), they were on a mission to revolves the bomb blasters which later lead them to London. Meanwhile, SivaKumar marries Meenakshi (Anushka), an eye surgeon. The marriage was arranged by SivaKumar's mom. Without getting to know each other at the beginning, SivaKumar later fall in love with Meenakshi. After their marriage, Meenakshi sets a rule in their relationship where their bond has to start from friendship followed by love. At the same time, she has no clue on SivaKumar's real job designation until they came across the party. The love story that blossom between SivaKumar and Meenakshi beautifully picturized by the director.  SivaKumar who was on a mission to capture the bomb blast activist was perfectly trapped in a tight situation. The situation gets worst when he finds out the man behind the mission. As a result, SivaKumar lost his vision in term of saving his love ones during a tragic bomb blast.

THE CAST
Vikram - His dedication towards his work totally remarkable. He is able to carry any task wonderfully to bring his character to live. He does not have lengthy dialogues as his body language speaks for his character.

Anushka - She portraits a beautiful character and plays her role well as she carries an important character in the movie. The lovable bond between her character and Vikram's character perfectly performed and narrates the romance beautifully.

Amy Jackson -  After the success debut in Madarasapattinam, she returns to A L Vijay's narration but this time in a modern style as Sarah Vinayagam, the Miss London winner who later have a crush on Kenny. Her beauty without a doubt fits her character. Unfortunately, her character were shading off towards the movie.  Being a talented actress, Amy Jackson should have be given the sparks to rise her career in this film. Yet, I could not figure out why is it necessary to include her character as a born British Indian who speaks Tamil. It not going to effect the movie at any cause if her character speaks purely in her own native.

Jagapati Babu - He dons a role who is the best friend for Vikram's character. Besides being in a  supportive role, he performs his character perfectly as he carries one of the important role in this story.

Nasser - He plays a Sri Lankan officer who investigates the crime n leads the story. Nasser's experience in the industry totally whelming his character which is presented well.

Cast Rating : 4 / 5

THE DIRECTOR
A L Vijay venture continues after back to back hit from Kireedom, Madrasapattinam, n DeivaThirumagal. He brought back the entire team from DeivaThirumagal with Amy Jackson, Jagapati Babu and Lakshmi Rai as addition. After the wonderful eye tearing DeivaThirumagal, A L Vijay came with an action pack film.

"An Unusual Revenge Story" - NOT!!! its just another typical revenge story about a man having his own vendetta for the lost of his love one. The only unusual about this story is about echolocation method which A L Vijay has to be given high credit for introduction this method to the audiences. In addition, A L Vijay introduces Daniel Krish, an expert in the echolocation method. In fact, as a blind person himself, Daniel Krish was the founder of this method. Another big applause for A L Vijay for picturing a beautiful love story between the two main lead. It definitely will flow deeply to audience heart. In DeivaThirumagal, A L Vijay perfectly the love bond between a father and his daughter, this time he emphasis the love bond in newly married couple.

As part of portraying a beautiful love story, as I mentioned, it is an ordinary revenge story. While having a perfect master plan to trap SivaKumar who was on a mission to revolve the bomb blast activist, the plot are kindly predictable. The family bond during the arrangements of SivaKumar's wedding which includes  awards winners Thambi Ramaiah and Saranya as well as comedian M S Bhaskar to cast as cameo which should have been extracted to entertain the audience more. Besides that, Amy Jackson's role should have been given a strong impact in the movie. Being a talented actress herself, she deserve to be in top performing role.

Director Rating : 3 / 5

CINEMATOGRAPHY
Nirav Shah is very well known for his camera handling. Never fails to visualize the audiences with his talent. His camera angles and shots delivers the flow of the story perfectly.

Cinematography Rating : 3.5 / 5

MUSIC
G V Prakash Kumar - A L Vijay combination delivers superior melodies for the audience but this time not all the songs are close deep to the heart as their previous movies. Not really the type of the songs that people would hear again and again. Fortunately, song such Uyirin Uyire totally mesmerizes deeply to the audience as it was melodiously composed by G V Prakash Kumar.

Music Rating : 2.5 / 5

THANDAVAM -  Not an unusual revenge story as it mentioned. The introduction to echolocation method and appearances by Daniel Krish totally deserving A L Vijay a big applause of credits. Vikram with an interesting character without lengthy dialogues, focusing more in body language and expression. A beautiful love bond between two couple. 'Uyirin Uyire' lovely composed but shown at the wrong sequences. A predictable storyline especially after the flashback was revealed. A remarkable camerawork with slow and predicted storyline.

MOVIE RATING : 2.5 / 5

THE CAST
Surya -  an example of hard work. He keeps on improving in his every movies. Maatraan becomes the first movie in Tamil cinema to use performance capture technology which acquires double hard work by Surya who respectfully accepted the challenges and brilliantly convey his performances without a doubt never fail to  entertain his fans and never let his team down. He portraits both dual characters remarkably. Its like seeing two different characters for real. He proves he can accept any characters well.

Cast Rating : 4.5 / 5

THE DIRECTOR
After back to back hit from Ayan and KO, it is very highly expected movie form director K V Anand. His dedications and efforts were limitless to make this amazing script to include the concept of genetic engineering and baby designing from multiple donor ideology to the Tamil screen. Not to forget the brilliant mind to encourage himself to bring performance capture technology to be input together with the conjoined twins concept. But  this time he fails to bring the excitement at the 2nd half of the movie. A fun adventurous entertainment in 1st half of the movie totally vanished in the 2nd part of the film. Too many draggy and unnecessary scenes which totally boost down the 2nd period of the movie. Totally lowering down the expectations from the viewers.

Director Rating : 4 / 5

CINEMATOGRAPHY
A visual treats for the audiences.  S Soundar Rajan's cinematography brings the flow of the movie perfectly brilliant. His eye-catching visionary especially in songs such as Nani Koni wonderfully screened to the viewers. A very highly ventured cinematographic excels the storyline.

Cinematography Rating : 4 / 5

MUSIC
Surya - Harris Jayaraj combination never fails to bring the musical treats to the fans. Songs such Rettai Kathire, Nani Kodi and Kaal Mulhaite Poove  placed deeply to viewers heart. Video visual for the songs anticipated the songs to be heard again n again. At the same time, Harris Jayaraj scrolled down his effort by producing epic BGM's which notify the viewers that the BGM's has been adopted form other source. This totally dropped down his music.

Music Rating: 2.5 / 5

STUNT
Definitely need to give a big applause to Peter Hain to bring out extreme stunt especially the fights scene at the roller coaster park. Totally a mind-blowing stunts conveyed by Peter Hain to bring the conjoined twins to the actions. The scenes where Vimalan and Akilan stretched out during the fights and the part Vimalan's head was directly hit been totally nailed deeply the heart. Probably the best action stunts been witness.

Stunt : 4 / 5

MAATRAAN -  Highly anticipated K V Anand story which not only about conjoined twins but related to genetic engineering. A big bow to the VFX team to portrait the performing capture technology. Kudos to Peter Hain brilliant effort to feature the conjoined twins to the actions at the roller coaster ride. A fun packed entertainer which totally scrolled down by the lengthy and draggy storyline in the second half. This could have been trimmed and reduced to be a mass entertainment.
